The Agia Triada Tsagaroli Monastery, beautiful 17th century monastery one of the most important monasteries from the end of the Venetian Empire. The monastery is located 15 km northeast of Chania on the Akrotiri peninsula, at the foot of the Stavros mountain chain. The monastery’s main church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, and its museum displays religious artworks, clothing and crucifixes dated to the post Byzantine period and manuscripts dated to the 19th century. Also visit in the monastery its Olive Oil Mill and the Wine Celler.

The Gouverneto Monastery
The Our Lady of the Angels Monastery is one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Crete, located 19 km northeast of Chania and 4 km north of the Agia Triada Tsagaroli Monastery. This 16th century Venetian style fortress with towers at each end, presents orthodoxy monasterial architecture which served to defend the complex from raiders. In the monastery 50 monks’ cells in two floors, rectangular courtyard, a domed church with an ornate Venetian facade, and a chapel with some of the oldest frescoes in Crete. There is a very small museum in site with a collection of religious artworks and precious relics.

Katholiko Monastery
The ruins of a 17th monastery built by the Venetian next to the cave where Saint John the hermit died in the 11th century. The monastery lies at the end of a 1 km beautiful, paved trail from the Gouverneto Monastery, crossing the Avlaki Canyon. A visit to the monastery is worthwhile if only for the beautiful way and the great landscapes.
