• The Lagoon of Gialova

The Gialova wetland is considered a place of remarkable natural beauty and one of the most important bird nesting areas in Europe. The lagoon is 10 km north of Pilos and the Navarino Bay, near the village of Gialova. The wetland constitutes an ornithological reserve of exceptional importance in Europe, being the southernmost stopover of more than 250 bird species migrating between the Balkans and Africa. Visit the observation stations and follow the nature walk which passes through the eight different ecosystems of the lagoon.
