  • A tranquil port town with Roman origins dated to the 5th century, on the banks of the Rhine River, 21 km south of Koblenz. The small romantic town, officially recognized as a tourist’ resort, is a wine growing center surrounded by numerous vineyards covering the rolling hills surrounding it. The town, the Rhine Gorge, and the nearby castles on the hill tops, offer great landscapes and romantic vibes typical to the whole region. Have a layback stroll in the old town with its cobbled alleys, colored partially timbered houses, small shops, and taverns.
    Follow the Medieval town walls, gates and towers, walk the Rheinallee pedestrian promenade and have a glass of Riesling wine in the small port. Admire the 13th century Romanesque St. Severus Church and its twin towers dominating the town’s skyline, and visit the 13th century Electorial castle, Alte Burg by the river, to enjoy its interior, the Boppard Museum and Thonet Museum inside. Visit the 4th century Römer-Kastell fortress ruins south of the market square, with the remnants of its 28 towers and walls.
    Reach Boppard by car via the A60 and the B9 roads, by train using the Mainz – Cologne line, or by boat cruise on the Rhine using the KD ferry service. Spend half a day enjoying the town, and if time allows a few more days enjoying the attractions in the town’s surroundings.
