• Hellbrunn Palace

A 17th century Baroque palace famous for its water games in the “pleasure” gardens, a Baroque playground for the entertainment of the Prince Archbishop of Salzburg and his guests. The highly popular tourist attraction is located 8 km south of Salzburg city center. The palace has remarkable prince′s chambers with their walls and ceilings decorated with beautiful Italian paintings. The famous palace gardens include fountains, ponds, artificial caves, sculptures and statues, stone seats spraying water on those who sit on them, and hidden fountains that surprisingly spray guests with water.
Enjoy the garden 18th century water operated and music-playing theatre with more than 130 moving wooden figures. A popular Christmas Market takes place in December in the Ehrenhof square in front of the palace. The palace grounds which were filmed for the Sound of Music film are located within a large park home to the nearby Salzburg Zoo and the open air Steintheater.
