• Dolmabahçe Palace

The home of six Sultans and the main administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, in the Beşiktaş district on the European coast of Istanbul. In the glamorous Palace 285 rooms and 46 halls, designed with a mix of Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical styles, blended with traditional Ottoman architecture.
The palace has on display elements of traditional Ottoman palace life, and features of traditional Turkish homes. In the Palace, representation rooms, private residential area for the Sultan and his family, and a large Ceremonial Hall. The harem area includes eight interconnected apartments for the wives, the concubines, and the Sultan’s mother.
The Palace is extensively decorated with gilded ceilings, Crystal chandeliers, Hereke carpets, and a large collection of European oil paintings.
