• Doune Castle

A Medieval Royal Castle near the River Teith, 13 km northwest of Stirling. The castle which was originally built in the 13th century, was rebuilt in the late 14th century by Robert Stewart, the son of King Robert II of the Scots, and Regent of Scotland.
The castle has a main courtyard with buildings on each side, including a large tower home to the rooms of the Lord and his family, and a separate tower containing the kitchen and guest rooms, both linked by the great hall. The castle featured in few movies and TV series including the 1974 Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie, Outlander, and Game of Thrones (as Winterfell) TV series.
