A small village at the southwest end of Loch Ness, 56 km south of Inverness, on the way to Fort William. Worth exploring is the Caledonian Canal which connects Fort William to Inverness passing through Fort Augustus. Explore the dramatic series of locks stepping down to Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal Heritage Centre.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Loch Ness and the great hiking and cycling trails part of the Great Glen Way. When in Fort Augustus you can take a cruise on Loch Ness and visit the nearby Urquhart Castle, or you can continue west on your way to Skye Island and the Eilean Donan Castle, or south to Fort William.
