In the 16<sup>e <\/sup>century Avila became a very popular pilgrimage destination following St Teresa its patron Saint.<\/p>\n<p>Stroll the narrow, cobbled streets of the old town and the Medieval Barrio Judio<strong>, <\/strong>the Jewish Quarter located around the Puerta de San Vicente wall\u2019s gate. Enjoy the hidden small squares, the small shops, cafes, and restaurants. Walk along the 2.5 km, 12 meters high <a href=\"https:\/\/thetjoy.com\/fr\/attraction\/walls-of-avila\/\"><strong>Town Walls<\/strong><\/a>, and visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/thetjoy.com\/fr\/attraction\/catedral-de-san-salvador\/\"><strong>A<\/strong><strong>vila Cathedral<\/strong><\/a> built like a fortress part of the wall.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visit the Convento de Santa Teresa de Jesus, a 17<sup>e<\/sup> century convent built around the room where Santa Tereza was born, and the interesting <a href=\"https:\/\/thetjoy.com\/fr\/attraction\/museo-de-avila\/\"><strong>Avila History Museum<\/strong><\/a>.
