The Grapes grown, harvested and pressed in the region are transported to Vila Nova de Gaia part of the Porto Metropolitan, to be stored and matured in the wine sellers (caves).<\/p>\n<p>The picturesque region famous for its terraced Port wine vineyards, surrounding the mighty Rio Douro as it flows across northern Portugal. And obviously admire the magnificent landscapes of the rural region and the flowing river from one of the viewpoints, Miradouros, scattered around.<\/p>\n<p>The Alto Corgo is the most scenic part of the Douro Valley with its terraced vineyards covering the hills, and the charming towns of <strong>Lamego<\/strong>, <strong>Peso da R\u00e9gua<\/strong>, <strong>Pinhao<\/strong> et <strong>Tua, <\/strong>sa vall\u00e9e et son lac<strong>, <\/strong>overlooking or on the Douro Riverbanks.<br \/>\nTheTjoy.com believes that the best time to visit to the Douro region is late May and early June through to September to experience the grape\u2019s harvest season.
