The town flourished in the 16<sup>e<\/sup> century being the home of the Castle of Blois, the favorite residence place of the French Kings and Queens during the Renaissance. Blois is a perfect gateway to the Loire Valley major palaces and attractions.<br \/>\nWhen in town, stroll the impressive old town centered in Rue des Trois, around the Castle and Square of Blois, and in Place St-Louis around the cathedral. Near the castle visit the enjoyable House of Magic (Maison de la Magie) devoted to magic and optical illusions. Climb the Escalier Denis Papin stairway to admire the beautiful landscapes of the old town, the Loire River, and the 18<sup>e<\/sup> century Pont Jacques Gabriel Bridge which offers also great scenery.<br \/>\nExplore the Foundation du Doute, a museum dedicated to the radical Fluxus movement home to 300 artworks by 50 artists including Yoko Ono, Wolf Vostell and John Cage, and enjoy one of many daily markets operating in various sites in town.
