L'\u00e9difice a subi plusieurs tremblements de terre, mais ses vestiges restent impressionnants, notamment la crypte de San Marciano et les catacombes de San Giovanni.<br \/>\nEn entrant par le sol de l'\u00e9glise, le 4e<sup>e<\/sup> jusqu'\u00e0 6<sup>e<\/sup> Ces catacombes, en activit\u00e9 depuis des si\u00e8cles, sont organis\u00e9es en un r\u00e9seau souterrain de galeries dont les chambres fun\u00e9raires sont creus\u00e9es dans la roche calcaire. The church has suffered several earthquakes, but it&#8217;s remains are impressive including the San Marciano\u2019s Crypt and the San Giovanni\u2019s Catacombs.<br \/>\nEntering through the church floor, the 4th to 6th centuries active Catacombs are arranged in an underground array of tunnels with burial chambers carved into the limestone rocks. Special attractions are the sacred crypt of San Marciano, the first bishop of Syracuse, and the Sarcophagus of Adelfia with rich decorations of biblical
