The Cathedral is famous for its vessels of Saint Gennaro&#8217;s blood which liquefies miraculously, otherwise the legend states, a disaster will occur. The Cathedral&#8217;s main attraction is in the Royal Chapel of San Gennaro, containing the skull of the saint, who was martyred in the 4<sup>e<\/sup> century. Admire the Chapel frescoes by Domenichino and Giovanni Lanfranco, the altar artifacts by Domenichino, Stanzione and Ribera, the rich altar by Solimena, and the bronze railing by Fanzago.
