The city is the gateway to the Algarve Region with its international airport catering the Algarve international visitors that are then scattered to the more popular beach and vacation resorts.<br \/>\nIn the city\u2019s historic quarter, the <strong>Cidade Velha,<\/strong> and in other parts of Faro and its surroundings.<br \/>\nTheTjoy recommends visiting and enjoying various attractions.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>le <strong>Largo da Se Plaza<\/strong> home to the Gothic cathedral which offers beautiful scenery from its tower.<\/li>\n<li>Le <strong>Paco Episcopal bishop&#8217;s palace<\/strong>, and the beautiful Baroque Arco da Vila portal.<\/li>\n<li>Visit the impressive Baroque church of <strong>Igreja do Carmo<\/strong> with its gilded carved altarpieces, and the Capela dos Ossos, where the bones of 1,200 monks are on display.<\/li>\n<li>Visitez <strong>Faro Marina<\/strong> with its mix of fishing boats and modern yachts.<\/li>\n<li>Enjoy the Rua de Santo Antonio shopping street, the Forum Algarve Mall, the restaurants and bars, and the vibrant nightlife geared especially for Faro\u2019s locals.<\/li>\n<li>On the other side of Ria Formosa are three islands home to Faro\u2019s beaches of which <strong>Praia de Faro<\/strong>, in the island of Faro, with its 5 km sandy beach stretch, is the most recommended.
