The palace was heavily restored and renovated by the state in the 20th century, with the Queen Maria I Pavilion currently used as Portugal&#8217;s official state guest house. The palace exterior and the richly decorated interior somehow reminds the French Versailles Palace.<br \/>\nAdmire the highly decorated Baroque and Rococo architecture with the windows carvings, the statues, the Doric colonnade, and the internal courtyard with the \u201changing garden\u201d. Inside the Palace visit the numerous state and private apartments and the ceremonial grand halls all richly decorated in Baroque and Rococo styles. Enjoy the painted and frescoed ceilings and walls, the polychrome azulejo glazed tiles, the gilded wood panels, and much more.
