Part of town is a 16 km, north to south, stretch of beaches from <strong>Lavadores Beach<\/strong>, 7 km southwest of Porto\u2019s center, through <strong>Praia das Pedras Amarelas<\/strong>, <strong>Praia de Valadares<\/strong>, <strong>Praia de Francelos<\/strong>, <strong>Praia da Aguda<\/strong>, all the way south to <strong>Praia da Baia<\/strong>. The beaches in the area are sandier than those of the Foz do Douro, are more suitable for swimming, has surfing conditions, and most are awarded with blue flags.
