Unfortunately, many of the town&#8217;s Neoclassical buildings were destroyed during the 1953 earthquake. Stroll the streets and squares of the town and enjoy the small shops and boutiques, the cafes, and the restaurants.<br \/>\nVisitez <strong>Solomos Square\u00a0<\/strong>and its surrounding traditional buildings including the Byzantine and Post Byzantine Museum of Zante and its collection of religious icons, frescoes, and sculptures from the 12<sup>e<\/sup>-18<sup>e<\/sup> centuries period. From Solomos Square continue to the vibrant Strata Marina, the coastal road, with its numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants. Visit <strong>Aghios Markos Square<\/strong>, the main gathering area of both tourists and locals, and the 15<sup>e<\/sup> century Venetian castle ruins, in the village of\u00a0Bohali 3 km from the town center, overlooking the town and the harbor.<br \/>\nIn the 17<sup>e<\/sup> century Roma Mansion explore period furniture, paintings, artifacts, and books, representing the local aristocrat&#8217;s life of that period.
