The picturesque and charming village maintains strong authentic character, local customs, traditional costumes, and its old Cretan dialect. The village is one of the major hand-made crafts centers of Crete, known for its numerous workshops for authentic woven and unique hand stitched articles.<br \/>\nVisit the 12<sup>e<\/sup> century church of Saint John with its beautiful frescoes and icons and enjoy the traditional cafes and taverns in the lower part of the village. Traditional Cretan music concerts and cultural nights are held in the village in July-August.
