The sanctuary of Delphi which was regarded as the center of the world and the most famous oracle of ancient Greece, was the seating place of Pythia the major oracle who had direct communication line to the gods, and was consulted with regarding to important decisions to be made throughout the ancient classical world.<\/p>\n
The Delphi sanctuary is located on the southwestern slope of Mount Parnassus, above the Gulf of Corinth, east of the small town of Delphi, 160 km northwest of Athens.
