A day trip to Lake Starnberg also known as Lake W\u00fcrm, W\u00fcrmsee, F\u00fcrstensee, Germany’s second largest fresh water lake,\u00a0and a popular recreation area of Germany’s rich and famous, 27 km southwest of\u00a0Munich. Surrounding the lake are hilly moraine landscape, lakes and the Alpine Mountain ranges in the south. When in the lake area enjoy numerous hiking and cycling trails, including a beautiful 50 km trail along the lake’s circumference, swimming, sailing and rowing.
\nTake a boat trip or rent a boat for your own pleasure on the lake. The lake beaches are close to the train stations in Tutzing, Possenhofen and Feldafing. Take a boat to the small and romantic\u00a0Rose Island\u00a0near the west bank, 7 km south of Starnberg, home to beautiful parks and gardens.
