The current Romanesque abbey dated to the 17<sup>e<\/sup> and 18<sup>e<\/sup> centuries has a beautiful churchyard, and &#8220;charming&#8221; 17<sup>e<\/sup> century burial grounds with highly decorated gravestones featured in the famous Sound of Music movie.<br \/>\nAlso in the abbey early Christian catacombs, two Chapels carved into the rock, and the 12<sup>e<\/sup> century St. Peter&#8217;s Church presenting various notable monuments, painted altarpieces, and early Gothic and 18<sup>e<\/sup> century frescoes. Within the complex the oldest library in Austria, home to 800 manuscripts and 100,000 book volumes, focusing on Benedictine monasticism, medieval church history, history of art, and items relating to the local history of Salzburg.<br \/>\nThe abbey is also home to collections of paintings, church treasures, artworks, period furniture, musical instruments, and more.
