The popular monastery has a Gothic chapel with 18<sup>e<\/sup> century elaborate wood carvings on the choir stalls, and a beautiful 12<sup>e<\/sup> century Verduner Altar comprising 45 gilded Byzantine paragon copper plates.<br \/>\nThe abbey is in Klosterneuburg, 14 km northwest of Vienna on the Danube River at the edge of the Vienna Woods. Explore the abbey&#8217;s museum, home to a marvelous collection of Gothic and Baroque sculptures, a gallery of 14<sup>e<\/sup> and 15<sup>e<\/sup> centuries paintings, and many more artifacts. Also, in the Abbey, a Gallery of Modern Art, with exhibitions of 20<sup>e<\/sup> and 21<sup>st<\/sup> centuries religious items and contemporary art.
