The manor house origins are in the 11<sup>e<\/sup> century, with renovations carried out in the 13<sup>e <\/sup>through to the 17<sup>e<\/sup> centuries. The manor house was closed for hundreds of years resulting in that its interiors, from the 14<sup>e<\/sup> century to the 17<sup>e<\/sup> century, was maintained untouched with minimal degradation.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the manor house early English furniture and wall tapestries collections are considered the most important in England, and the manor house is considered one of the most important Medieval houses in the western world.<\/p>\n<p>Explore the oldest Medieval kitchens in England including all the original features, the Medieval chambers, the 33 meters long Gallery with its beautiful glass windows and amazing paneling, and the private chapel with its original 14<sup>e<\/sup> century frescos. Outside, enjoy the beautiful structured Elizabethan Walled Gardens arranged in a series of flower and plants terraces with great scenery of the central Peak District.
