In the castle, a Keep and four circular bastions with 39 firing positions. In the 18<sup>e<\/sup> century the castle became the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, and since then it has become a private residence.<\/p>\n<p>From the 18<sup>e<\/sup> century the interior of the castle was converted to provide accommodation for the Lord Wardens, including items relating to William Pitt, and items part of Wellington memorabilia.
