The cliff face, which reaches a height of 110 m owes its striking appearance to its composition of chalk accented by streaks of black flint. The spectacular cliffs are an official icon of Britain and have been a sign of hope and freedom for centuries.<\/p>\n<p>To appreciate their beauty and the channel landscapes, take one of the dramatic cliff-top walks, view the cliffs from St Margaret\u2019s Bay, on board a P&amp;O ferry crossings from Calais, from Dover Harbor, or from Shakespeare Beach west of the Harbor.
