The town preserves the cultural and architectural heritage dated to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when Chinese immigrants, European traders, and entrepreneurs came here and built elegant shophouses of Portuguese colonial architectural elements combined with Chinese decorative traditions.<br \/>\nStroll the town\u2019s streets and admire the restored and converted boutique hotels, caf\u00e9s, restaurants, art galleries, designer shops, and museums.<br \/>\nStroll the <a href=\"https:\/\/thetjoy.com\/es\/\"><strong>Thalang Road<\/strong><\/a>, the Old Town&#8217;s main road, to admire the ornate stucco work, the Chinese altars and shrines, and the Portuguese influenced decorative elements, including ceramic tiles and painted shutters.<br \/>\nWhile walking the side streets off Thalang Road notice the street art and murals decorating the walls, with works by international and Thai artists, and window shop the boutiques selling contemporary Thai design.<br \/>\nThe Old Town is where you will enjoy authentic Thai Chinese cuisine and atmospheric traditional coffee shops.<br \/>\nOn Sunday walk the vibrant <strong>Street Market<\/strong> in Thalang Road and the surrounding streets, one of Phuket&#8217;s premier cultural experiences, with hundreds of vendors selling handicrafts, textiles, artwork, jewelry, and more.
