Die bedeutendsten Bauwerke entstanden im 5. Jahrhundert v. Chr., darunter der Parthenon, der aus Marmor erbaute Tempel der G\u00f6ttin Athene, die Propyl\u00e4en, das pr\u00e4chtige Tor zur Akropolis, das Erechtheion, der Tempel der Athene und des Poseidon sowie der Tempel der Athene Nike. Am Hang des H\u00fcgels unterhalb der Akropolis befinden sich das Dionysos-Heiligtum und das Odeon des Herodes Atticus, ein Amphitheater, das noch heute w\u00e4hrend des Athener Festivals genutzt
