A 15th century abandoned monastery built on a rock above the Vikos Canyon in the Zagori region, offering overwhelming panoramic scenery of the Canyon. In the monastery a small basilica surrounded by the monks’ cells with frescoes of the 15th and 16th centuries. The monastery is accessible by a 15 minute trail leading from the village of Monodendri. There are several caves on the cliffs north and east of the monastery, where hermits and persecuted Christians sought refuge during Ottoman times.
