• The Imbros Gorge hike

A 11 km long canyon with a 2 meters minimum width between the canyon walls, located near the village of Hora Sfakion, 56 km southeast of Chania. The Imbros Canyon is parallel to the western Samara Canyon. The entrance to the canyon’s 9 km, 2-3 hours trail, is at the village of Imbros, 780 meters in altitude, and walking down hill it ends at the village of Kommitades. The remains of the Imbros Gorge mule trail connecting Chania and Hora Sfakion, are still partially visible. The trail is highly popular, defined as easy level suitable for families with children. With high canyon walls, narrow gaps between the walls, caves, vegetation and flowers, the trail surroundings are quite impressive. If you have reached Imbros Canyon with your own car, you can either return all the way back, or return to where you left your car via a Taxi from the village of Kommitades.
