• The Ear of Dionysius

An ear shaped 20 meters high cave located under the Greek Theatre, named by the painter Michelangelo da Caravaggio in the 16th century. Because of its ear shape, the cave has extremely good acoustics, making even a very low sound resonate throughout the cave. The cave was dug in the Greek and Roman periods to be used as a water storage for the city.
