• The Cuillin

A 14 km long rocky mountain range in the isle of Skye, with Sgurr Alasdair it’s highest peak at 992 meters. The ridge which curves around Loch Coruisk has its main section called the Black Cuillin, and the section east of Glen Sligachan is called the Red Cuillin. The mountains which rise dramatically from the sea create impressive sea lochs, offering dramatic and beautiful landscapes.

Note the Sgurr nan Gillean, soaring above Sligachan, Loch Scavaig and the Cuillin ridge from Elgol, or Bla Bheinn above Torrin. The mountains offer great hiking trails and climbing opportunities. Approach the mountains from the south by foot or by boat from Elgol, from the Sligachan Hotel, a popular route to the north, or from the Glenbrittle Campsite west of the mountains.
