• Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art

The gallery is home to the national collection of modern and contemporary art from the 1900s to present day, housed in two buildings facing each other on Belford Road west of the city center. The 1st building, ‘Modern One’, is a neoclassical building with a sculpture park in front of the building. The gallery has a collection of more than 6,000 paintings, sculptures, video works, prints and drawings.
The significant and vast collection include works by Matisse, Picasso, Vuillard and Dix, as well as a superb selection of paintings by leading Scottish artists. Also on display are postwar works by Bacon, Freud, Hockney, Warhol, and Turner to name a few, and paintings by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and those of Scottish Colorists including John Peploe, John Duncan Fergusson, and others.
In the ‘Modern Two’ gallery a world-famous collection of Surrealism, including works by Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte and Alberto Giacometti.
