• Riomaggiore

The southern and largest of the 5 villages, dated to the 13th century, is usually the starting point of the Cinque Terre visit. On top of the village hill stands one of the Cinque Terre symbols, a walled castle with two circular towers. The village main street, Via Colombo, has various cafes, restaurants, and different small shops. From the main street you can walk through the charming narrow streets with the Pastel colored homes, either uphill to the castle or to the seashore. Walking to the village of Manarola is on an easy, 20 minutes trail along the shore.
