The main attraction in Porto Moniz is the highly popular natural volcanic sea water pools.
There are two nearby pools’ complexes, Piscinas Naturais Velhas, connected by a promenade offering a great view of the rocks and the ocean.
The first complex is of a smaller deep pool suitable also for diving.
At Ribeira da Janela, a small village on the ocean’s coast 4 km east of Porto Moniz there is a small, pebbled beach, a surfer’s favourite, and a nearby camping site.
