• Siena’s Piazza del Campo

The main square in Siena has shell shaped Gothic architecture and is located between the three hills of the city where most of the major attractions are concentrated. From the square leaves eleven narrow alleys towards the city walls, dividing Siena into its quarters. On July 2nd and August 16th for the past 800 years, the Il Palio, the famous Horse Race takes place in the square. While in the square visit the 13th century majestic Palazzo Pubblico and its tower, the Torre Del Mangia, and the Civic Museum. At night, when the Piazza is lit, enjoy a glass of wine in one of many cafes surrounding it.
