• Palazzo Vecchio

Florence’s town hall and art museum, designed by Arnolfo di Cambio in the early 14th century. Its a massive Romanesque fortress and palace with a 94 meters high tower overlooking the Piazza while dominating Florence’s skyline together with the Duomo. Inside the Palazzo Vecchio you will enjoy marvelous rooms full of decorations and art works including the 15th century Salone dei Cinquecento home to Michelangelo’s Genio della Vittoria (Spirit of Victory) sculpture, beautifully painted battle scenes, and Cosimo’s 16th century portrait by Vasari.
Sala delle Carte Geografiche (Map Room) is home to Cosimo fascinating collection of 16th century world maps. The Quartiere di Leo X, the private apartments of Cardinal Giovanni de’ Medici (1475–1521) and the 16th century Pop Leo X, are beautifully decorated with the 16th century fresco of Palazzo Vecchio, the original Donatello’s Judith and Holofernes, and more.
