• Palacio da Bolsa

The 19th century former Stock Exchange Palace of Porto built to impress foreign investors, is today the “Reception Room” of Porto where heads of state and high ranked visitors are welcomed to the city. The palace is in the Infante D. Henrique Square where you can admire the statue of Prince Henry the Navigator, on Rua de Ferreira, in the historical centre of Porto.
The palace has a grand neoclassical facade and magnificent interior decorated by several artists. Within the palace admire the central courtyard, The Nations’ Courtyard, covered by a large metallic dome with glass panels and decorated with painted coats-of-arms, an impressive stairway decorated with numerous busts, and ceiling frescoes. Enjoy also several rooms with beautiful furniture, allegoric paintings, sculptures and various other works of art.

But the highlight of the palace is the must see highly decorated Arab Room, decorated in the Moorish Revival style to resemble the Spanish Granada’s Alhambra Palace, used as a reception hall honouring heads of state visiting Porto.
Note that visiting the palace is only under a guided tour.
