The capital and most populated city in the archipelago. Founded in the 15th century, this sunny seaside town has a beautiful old center with narrow cobbled streets, cafes, restaurants, and small local shop.

Visit the 15th century La Catedral, with its impressive neoclassical facade and Gothic interior, the Museum of the Canary Islands, the Nestor Museum, and the 15th century Casa de Colon where Columbus stayed on route to the New World with exhibits presenting his explorations.
While in town be sure to enjoy Playa Las Canteras with its wide sandy shore and gentle waters, one of several excellent beaches in Las Palmas.

Visit the Jardin Botanico Viera y Clavijo, 7 km from the city, a spectacular botanical garden filled with native Canarian plant species set in a beautiful valley.

Teror is a picturesque suburb of Las Palmas, home to some of the best examples of colonial architecture. While in Teror, visit the Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pino, and the Casa Museo de los Patrones de la Virgen, with its collection of paintings, weapons, old photographs and 17th century antiques.

Visit the impressive Volcanic Crater, Caldera de Bandama, 17 km south of Las Palmas.
