• Chateau de Falaise

Chateau Guillaume le Conquerant is a 12th century impressive Norman castle in Falaise, 37 km southeast of Caen. The castle is associated with William the Conqueror who was born at an earlier castle on the same site in the 11th century. The castle includes highly impressive fortifications, numerous towers, a large courtyard, and three keeps. Chateau Guillaume le Conquerant was abandoned in the 17th century and went through major restoration processes at the end of the 20th century including “virtual reconstruction”. Visitors will enjoy augmented reality presentations, using touch pads, of the various rooms within the castle, the period day to day life, the fortifications, and the activities in the castle yard, all as they have been in the 11th through to the 13th centuries. Enjoy the castle courtyard’s interesting demonstrations of Medieval weaponry.
